AO Annual Meeting review

Astra Tech launches OsseoSpeed™ TX and celebrates the 25th anniversary of Astra Tech Dental at the Academy of Osseointegration Annual Meeting

This year’s AO Annual Meeting (March 4-6; Orlando, FL) with its over 2,000 attendees, provided a great platform for Astra Tech’s introduction of the OsseoSpeed™ TX implant with its tapered apex design for simplified implant placement. The meeting also allowed us the opportunity to exchange information and receive feedback from all those dental professionals that we were able to meet with.

Astra Tech’s four-session corporate forum, “Moving Towards News Standards in Implant Dentistry,” which was uniquely presented in a dynamic Good Morning format, included a panel of world-renowned speakers within the field of implant dentistry, including Professor Tomas Albrektsson, Dr. Homa Zadeh, Dr. Lyndon Cooper and Dr. Bach Le. The standing–room turnout for the entire program spoke to the quality of the presenters and the pertinence of their topics, which ranged from what the current criteria should be for bone loss around implants, to the use of short and narrow implants in compromised sites, and the future of digital dentistry. Moderator, Michael Norton, did another fantastic job and created great interaction among the speakers and audience. As one attendee stated, “Astra Tech always puts together a great program that is not only educational, but creative and inspirational.”

The Astra Tech poolside reception held Thursday evening provided us with the opportunity to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Astra Tech Dental with many of the dental professionals that we have partnered with throughout the years and new ones that we look forward to working with in the future.

The successful introduction of OsseoSpeed™ TX, which allows for easier implant installation in all indications, especially in soft bone where under-preparation is often desired, was one of the highlights of the meeting and generated great traffic and interaction at the Astra Tech booth. As special congratulations to Dr. Brian Paul from Silver Springs, MD, the winner of our iPad raffle drawing for those who stopped by our booth and dropped off their pre-show mailers.

We look forward seeing many of you at next year’s AO Meeting in Washington, DC.
