Waltham, MA. (July 2010). Astra Tech expands the Atlantis™ patient-specific abutment options to include XiVE™ and Frialit™ implants from Dentsply Friadent and Standard/Standard Plus (Wide Neck) implants from Straumann for North American customers. 

Dentsply Friadent is the latest manufacturer to be added to the rapidly expanding Atlantis™ patientspecific abutment assortment, while Atlantis abutments are already available for major implant systems such as Astra Tech, Straumann, Nobel Biocare, Biomet 3i and Zimmer Dental.  These introductions are the latest in a series of Atlantis abutments being developed for new implant interfaces, further securing Astra Tech’s leadership position in providing patient-specific abutments for all major implant systems.

Astra Tech, leading provider of comprehensive solutions for dental implant therapy, is pleased to announce the expansion of Atlantis™ Abutment options to include the NobelActive™ NP 3.5 and RP 4.3, 5.0 implants for North American customers.

Astra Tech provides patient-specific abutments in a choice of four material options, including titanium, gold-shaded titanium, white zirconia and shaded zirconia.

Providing Atlantis Abutments for NobelActive™ implants further secures Astra Tech’s leadership position in providing patient-specific abutments for all major implant systems. This introduction is the latest in a series of Atlantis Abutments being developed for new implant interfaces such as the Straumann™ Bone Level implants. Astra Tech plans to introduce additional interfaces and material choices for the Atlantis™ patient-specific solution in 2010.

Astra Tech, a market leader in the field of implant dentistry, announces their strategic alliance with Dental Wings, the Canadian-based provider of CAD/CAM solutions with specialized development of 3D scanners, beginning in early 2010. As a result, Dental Wings users worldwide will have the ability to remotely transfer scans to Astra Tech’s design and manufacturing centers for the production of Atlantis™ patient-specific abutments for all major implant systems.

“Follow-up research among patients consistently shows a marginal bone level reduction of just 0.4 mm or less for Astra Tech dental implants, a performance indicator at least three times superior to the industry norm. The findings involve hundreds of individual cases and are remarkable in their consistency,” says Lyndon Cooper, Professor of Dentistry in the Department of Prosthodontics at the University of North Carolina, who has performed one of the studies.

3M ESPE and Astra Tech AB, a leader and innovator in the dental implant industry, announce a global partnership to provide Astra Tech’s Atlantis™ patient-specific abutments to 3M ESPE Lava™ customers. The two companies have developed an interface which will enable the Lava™ Scan ST Design System to communicate directly with Astra Tech’s Atlantis technology.
